Hi, I make music as Foureight.
I live to celebrate and progress the musical style I love, sparking connection and community through creating and sharing what I do.Foureight is the electronic-focused alias of London-based artist Jamie Bergin. Celebrating both the exploratory and the accessible, his work draws upon diverse musical influences ranging from styles of indie, experimental, and ambient electronic music, to classical music and beyond. These provide a naturalistic richness which he wraps up into effortlessly enjoyable, foot-tapping electronic dance music forms to create the distinctive essence of his sound, one that is both club-ready and cerebral.Coming from a background of visual and sculptural artists, Bergin was exposed to art in all its forms growing up but became particularly immersed in music study and performance. Dedication to the recording arts was sworn at a young age, sparking deeper exploration of cutting-edge methods of production. This enquiry directly reflected his core interest in the bridging of musical artistry and technology, fuelled by a burning desire to push boundaries and discover new possibilities within each.An affinity with the vibrant dance and electronic music scenes and fascination of the stylistic shifts he observed sustained this commitment. Bergin spent his teenage years honing his craft and spending time at various universities and studios including the renowned Abbey Road Studios, world-class music department and recording facilities at City, University of London, as well as the prestigious King's College London. Throughout this time he has studied composition, sound design, studio recording, performance, and musicology amongst top creative professionals and thought leaders before beginning to output his own original works as Foureight.Excitations constitutes a fundamental entry point to the artist’s studio output, drawing upon their long-time stylistic influences. The LP contains a combination of reworked early material originally developed while studying sound design and electronic music in London with more recent original compositions adding up to a body of work that questions the boundaries between electro-acoustic composition and electronic dance music production. Fluidly combining these approaches, Foureight’s debut full-length manages to find itself at home both tearing up dark venues as well as within the listening rooms of the most artistically discerning electronic music fans.
